Deputy Sheriff Cadet - San Diego, CA

Description Sheriff’s Cadets attend and must successfully complete an intensive twenty-five week Law Enforcement Training Academy. Upon graduation, Sheriff’s Cadets will be promoted to Deputy Sheriffs and assigned to one of three bureaus: Detentions, Court Services, or Law Enforcement Services.
Requirements
a) Minimum age is 20-1/2 at time of exam; 21 at time of appointment; b) U.S. high school diploma or GED certificate; c) No felony convictions, not on probation; misdemeanors may be disqualifying depending on number, type, and recency; d) Valid California class C driver’s license prior to appointment; e) Vision: 20/100 uncorrected; correctable to at least 20/30; or soft contact lenses correctable to 20/30 (subject to P.O.S.T. requirements); f) U.S. citizen; g) Effective oral and written communication skills in English.
Successful completion of a comprehensiveBackground Investigation, Computer Voice Stress Analysis Exam, Employment Interview, Psychological Examination and complete Medical Examination.
Additional Information A WRITTEN EXAM, which includes vocabulary, spelling, and reading comprehension. There is a 2 ½ -hour time limit.
A PHYSICAL ABLITIES TEST is given at a later date in the hiring process

Applicants with the highest scores will be invited to an orientation meeting that will provide an overview of the hiring process, and a presentation from Academy Staff.
